1) 3rd Annual Ice Cream Sunday
When: Sunday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: New Amsterdam Market
What: New Amsterdam Market is hosting a day-long ice cream fest. Ten different ice cream makers will be serving up tastes of a selection of special seasonal flavors, including La Newyorkina, Steve's Ice Cream, Il Buco, and Marlow & Sons. Regular tickets are $20, which includes eight miniature cone samples, or spring for an Early Bird ticket ($30) to avoid the long lines and score a few extra tastes. All proceeds go to benefit the Market.
2) Oysterfest at Brooklyn Oenology
When: Today, starts at 2 p.m.
Where: Brooklyn Oenology, 209 Wythe Ave, Brooklyn
What: Williamsburg winery Brooklyn Oenology is throwing an oyster eating extravaganza. They're offering all-you-can-eat $1 Blue Point oysters locally sourced from Long Island and $1 off select glasses of wine.
3) Back Forty's Crab Boil in the Rockaways
When: Today, starts at 5 p.m.
Where: Rockaway Beach Club, Beach 96 Concession Stand
What: Back Forty is taking over the Rockaway Beach Boardwalk tonight. They're bringing their popular crab boil to the beach and the party won't stop until they run out of grub. $25 gets you a bucket packed with a half dozen spiced blue crabs, two ears of corn, and some steamed potatoes. Low Tide Bar, located right next door, will be serving the beer. Paper towels, mallets, covered seating, and live music will be provided.
4) Prospect Park Food Truck Rally
When: Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Grand Army Plaza, Prospect Park, Brooklyn
What: The NYC Food Truck Association has teamed up with the Prospect Park Alliance for a series of food truck rallys. The fun continues tomorrow when sixteen of NYC's best food trucks take over Prospect Park for a day-long food affair. This month the lineup of trucks includes Rickshaw Dumpling Truck, Coolhaus, Wafels & Dinges, Morris Grilled Cheese, and more. Admission is free, just pay as you go.
5) Beer Tastings at the New York Historical Society
When: Today, 2 p.m. & 4 p.m.
Where: New York Historical Society, 170 Central Park West
What: The New York Historical Society continues their series of beer tastings in honor of their “Beer Here: Brewing New York’s History” exhibit this afternoon with two half-hour beer tastings courtesy of Keegan Ales. The tasting will feature three of their brews: Mother's Milk, a dark and creamy milk stout with hints of oatmeal, chocolate and milk, Hurricane Kitty, a coppery and heavily hopped India Pale Ale, and Barley Wine. Tickets are $35.
Also of Note: Smorgasburg and the Hester Street Fair are both on for today. The New Amsterdam Market is open tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and welcomes back the unique cookies of Black and Blanco.
