Mi Casa Es Su Casa, Harlem Public, More Coming Soon


1) Lower East Side: Bowery Boogie takes a peek at Mi Casa es Su Casa, a 32 seat restaurant that will offer Latin cuisine and acoustic music performances. The build out is ongoing but the interior is coming together. [PLYWOOD]

2) Lower East Side: The Boogie also checks in on The Hummus Shop, a vegan restaurant coming to 101 Ludlow. By Shay Zvibak, owner of Second Avenue Cuban spot Candela Candela, The Hummus Shop was due to open this summer but has clearly been delayed. [PLYWOOD]

3) West Harlem: Harlem + Bespoke notes that the "early century design aesthetic" of subway tiles?popular in downtown restaurants?has made its way uptown, evidenced by the installation of tiles at Harlem Public, a bar coming to 3612 Broadway. [PLYWOOD]

4) East Village: Among the many applicants on this month's CB3 SLA docket is an as-yet-unnamed "American grill" concept coming to St Marks Place. EV Grieve reports that if approved, the bar/restaurant will be open from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. [PLYWOOD]

5) Lower East Side: Also according to the Boogie, construction has been halted on Paulaner's flagship brewery and restaurant on Bowery. The DOB issued a stop work order because of fears that unsafe building practices could threaten the structural integrity of the apartment above. [PLYWOOD]

6) East Village: Over on Avenue B, what used to be Kate's Joint is becoming a deli and market called Vella Market. The Local EV learns that Vella Market will be run by Marcelino Castillo, a manager at nearby grocer Gracefully. It should open by October. [PLYWOOD]
