South Brooklyn Pizza Files for Bankruptcy; Oceana Deal

MONEY PROBLEMS — The South Brooklyn Pizza mini-chain has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Crain's reports that the restaurateur behind the chain, James McGowan, listed assets between $1 million and $10 million. [Crain's]

UNION SQUARE — In March, news broke that Simon Oren's Chef Driven Market, LLC had been tapped to run the new restaurant in the Union Square Pavilion. But now Grub Street learns that a lawsuit has been filed against the city that claims that the use of the space was granted without "necessary approval" from the State Legislature. The city has made a motion to dismiss the case. [GS]
