Governor, the Colonie Team's New Dumbo Restaurant

Governor is the third restaurant from Tamer Hamawi, Elise Rosenberg, Emelie Kihlstrom, and chef Brad McDonald. Their first restaurant, Colonie, opened a year and a half ago, and the team launched their Mexican foray Gran Electrica earlier this year. McDonald, who previously worked at Noma and Per Se, has created a menu that includes entrees like chicken with farro beer porridge, and beef tongue with marrow popovers and pommes puree.
McDonald is also baking all the bread and churning all the butter in-house. And in case you're wondering, the restaurant is named after Robert Gair, a paper bag maker who helped develop Dumbo in the late 1800s (his nickname was "Governor"). The doors open tonight around 6 p.m. Take a look around, and do send any early reports our way.
