The people of Austin are waiting with bated breath to hear about what their hometown hero Paul Qui is going to do next. In a six month span, the chef nabbed a James Beard Award for Best Chef Southwest, beat all the other cheftestapants on Top Chef, and hung out with Marcus Samuelsson at the White House. Now, Eater Austin learns that Qui will be coming to NYC later this month for a six night stint at City Grit, where he will reveal plans for a new restaurant, and prepare a seven-course tasting of dishes he's created for this concept.
Qui has not spilled any details about the new restaurant, although at the Aspen Food & Wine Classic, he told Eater National that he's not doing a noodle shop or a Japanese curry house. The meals are $95 each, with wine pairings available at an additional price.
