Back in May, news broke that restaurateurs John McDonald (Lure, B & B, Mercbar) and Josh Pickard (B & B, The Dutch, Locanda Verde) were planning a Mexican restaurant in the Downing Street space that formerly housed Scuderia. Now Flo Fab learns that the new project will be called El Toro Blanco, and chef Josh Capon (B & B, Lure) will oversee the food program. Former Dos Caminos chef Scott Linquist will also work on the menu, but the team has not yet picked the day-to-day chef.
McDonald notes: "Everyone expects tacos in a Mexican restaurant, but they won’t be a major part of what we’ll be doing here...We’ll be doing more modern Mexican." El Toro Blanco is slated to open this September.
