Here's a collection of photos of Coney Island restaurants that thrived in the first half of the 20th Century. Nathan's Famous, which was opened by Nathan Handwerker, a Polish immigrant, in 1916, has become a nationally recognized chain and boardwalk staple. Other notable restaurants sadly didn't share the same fate. Childs, the massive chain restaurant from the turn of the century, went through a series of unsuccessful changes before being sold in 1947. -Alexis deBoschnek · All Coverage of the Restaurants of Old New York [~ENY~]
