1) Big Apple Barbecue Block Party
When: Today and Tomorrow, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Madison Square Park, Madison Avenue between 23rd and 26th Street.
What: Some of the country's top pitmasters gather this weekend in Madison Square Park to share their grub with hungry New Yorkers. Expect to see items like pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, sausage, brisket, and even a makeshift beer garden. Admission is free and plates are $8 a piece. Representing New York will be Charles Grund jr. of Hill Country, Kenny Callaghan of Blue Smoke, John Stage of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, and John Wheeler of Rack and Soul. Where: Sycamore, 1118 Cortelyou Road, Brooklyn
When: Today, 5 p.m.
What: Sycamore continues their series of courses on the classic cocktail tonight with Mike Mikos and Wil Petre. The pair will lead the group through a step by step demonstration of several classic tequila cocktails and then add some of their own twists. Guests can expect complimentary snacks and a copy of the recipe book to take home. Tickets are $45.
3) Egg Rolls and Egg Cream Festival
Where: Museum at Eldridge Street, 12 Eldridge St.
When: Sunday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
What: A street festival celebrating the Jewish and Chinese communities of the Lower East Side and Chinatown. In addition to several food options, there will be Klezmer music, Chinese opera, Yiddish and Chinese language lessons, mah jongg, and more. 4) Chihuahua Cooking with Zarela Martinez
Where: Suenos, 311 W 17th St.
When: Today, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
What: Suenos will host Zarela Martinez today as she teaches classic Chihuahua cooking techniques and recipes. The class is the final event of Chihuahua Querida, a week-long celebration of the food and culture of Chihuahua Mexico. Martinez will show students how to make some of her favorites like albondigas, carne con chile colorado, flour tortillas, frijoles, charros, and calabacitas. Tickets are $50. 5) Paella Sunday Supper at Park Avenue Summer
Where: Park Avenue Summer, 100 E 63rd St.
When: Sunday Nights
What: Park Avenue Summer kicks off their Paella Sunday Suppers tomorrow night. $45 gets you food and a drink. Menu items will include a tomato and watermelon gazpacho, paella made with Maine lobster, native corn, prawns, mussels, and a glass of rose. The special will run through August 26th. Also of Note: Smorgasburg and the Hester Street Fair are both on for today. The New Amsterdam Market is open tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and adds some new vendors this week like Gabe the Fish Babe. Headed to the beach this weekend?
