Greenhouse and W.I.P. Slapped by State Liquor Authority

New, 10 comments

Soho nightclub Greenhouse and its basement lounge W.I.P. were slapped with 14 charges by the New York State Liquor Authority over the weekend and now face losing their liquor licenses forever. The club has now become infamous over a bottle throwing fight between two rappers that left W.I.P. in shambles and injured several people, including basketball star Tony Parker, who is also suing the club for $20 million. Club owner Barry Mullineaux is no stranger to these kind of issues, as his former club Stereo also went out of business in the fallout from a violent incident.

Mullineaux and his partners are now due to defend themselves in front of the SLA on July 11 about this charge and 14 others, with SLA spokesman William Crowley saying “they’re absolutely in jeopardy of losing their licenses." Meanwhile, Drake and Chris Brown have yet to take any responsibility for all of this. Also: what does this mean for the future of sustainable nightclub design and operation?
