There have been rumors about the closing of Chinatown Brasserie for months, and now Grub Street learns that today will be the restaurant's last day in business at its current address. Chef Joe Ng and partners Josh Pickard and John McDonald plan to reopen the restaurant in a smaller space in the area. Pickard notes: "We feel strongly that Chinatown can be a better restaurant experience in a smaller, more intimate setting."
The new version of Chinatown Brass will open later this year, with about 120 seats and a slightly tweaked menu. Will Andrew Carmellini be taking over the space for a new French Brasserie? That's the rumor that just won't die. Eater has reached out to the chef, but there's still no word yet on whether or not the deal is a go.
