The Department of Parks still hasn't found an operator for the sad, long-shuttered Tavern on the Green space. Crain's learns that the city is currently milling over a short list of about six operators, including Legends Hospitality and Philly's Beau Monde group, as well as the team behind City Winery in Soho.
Next week, the Department of Parks will close down the visitors center that has been operating out of part of the space to begin renovation work on the historic building. Workers will install a new roof and new plumbing, and remove any "non historic additions." The renovations will cost the city an estimated $9.8 million. If everything goes according to plan, the work on the building will be done by Summer 2013.
