At the end of July, acclaimed chef Shaun Hergatt will leave his Michelin starred restaurant SHO Shaun Hergatt in the Financial District to start over in a new location. Flo Fab reports that the chef is ending his partnership with the restaurant's main investor, Asher Zamir. He tells the Times:
There was an opportunity for me to move SHO and to elevate the restaurant to another leve...For me to advance I couldn’t do it with the same partner, and Zamir knows that.Almost every single critic that reviewed the restaurant loved the food but hated the dreary location — it's situated on the second floor of a condo building on Broad Street, and only accessible via an elevator and a series of long corridors.
Hergatt says that he's teaming up with a new group of investors, and that he hopes to open another, smaller restaurant of the same name, perhaps in Midtown. Zamir notes: "We will continue to run the restaurant...We are formulating various options now, with a different name, a different brand and a different chef.”
