Taavo Somer Clears Kitchen at Isa, Possibly for Revamp

Earlier today, word spread that Isa, Taavo Somer's adventurous and popular Williamsburg restaurant (and sometimes yoga studio), will be closed for much of the week, perhaps due to some major chef shuffling. This Craiglist posting from last week seems to confirm: As early as Thursday, management was looking for a whole new crew of chefs.

Eater has reached out to Somer and the restaurant's management to find out what the plan is for the nine month-old Isa. The restaurant's ex-sous chef Jose Ramirez—who tweets he was let go along with the restaurant's chef Ignacio Mattos—suspects they're "Turning something special into another grilling, burger, pizza joint." Currently, a 'Gone Fishin'' sign hangs on the restaurant's door.
