New York may not have been nominated in every category, but we sure did come away with a strong group of winners at last night's James Beard Awards at Lincoln Center. Three big chefs won three big honors last night: Eleven Madison Park's Daniel Humm won for Outstanding Chef, Momofuku Milk Bar's Christina Tosi nabbed a medal for Rising Star Chef, and Gramercy Tavern's Michael Anthony scored for Best Chef NYC. Meanwhile, PDT won for Outstanding Bar Program, and wine mad man Paul Grieco took home the gold for Outstanding Wine, Beer, or Spirits Professional. Also, classic Midtown French restaurant La Grenouille scored in the category of Outstanding Service.
Here are a few of the big highlights:
· Outstanding Chef: Daniel Humm, Eleven Madison Park, NYC
· Outstanding Pastry Chef: Mindy Segal, Mindy's Hot Chocolate, Chicago
· Rising Star Chef: Christina Tosi, Momofuku Milk Bar, NYC
· Outstanding Restaurateur: Tom Douglas, Tom Douglas Restaurants, Seattle
·Best New Restaurant: Next, Chicago
·Outstanding Restaurant: Boulevard, San Francisco
