The family-run, "healthy" burger joint Zaitzeff closed its Avenue B location on Sunday night. News of the possible shuttering broke earlier this week, with a note from the Zaitzeff family and staff thanking patrons for five years of support. As of today, there is no response to phone calls. The note also mentions that the two other locations, one in Murray Hill and one in the Financial District, will remain open.
Meanwhile, a tipster reports the following scene at Steve Hanson's big box Asian restaurant off Union Square, Kibo: "Garbage piled in street, sign on window directing people to other BR Guest restaurants." The BR Guest site confirms the closure, which comes less than a year after its splashy debut. It's unclear whether or not the Full Hanson will keep the site for a new project or cut his losses.
