About a month ago, the Bromberg brothers, the guys behind industry favorite Blue Ribbon, expanded their growing empire when they opened Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya in the Thompson Hotel. The Lower East Side spot offers sushi, sashimi, and izakaya-style plates. So far, the restaurant has received mostly positive reviews on Yelp, Foursquare, Twitter, and blogs, with only a few minor complaints. Here's a roundup of what patrons are saying about the service, the food, and the decor at Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya:

The Pre-Party News: Blogger Spanish Hipster seems pretty pleased: "If you are looking for a place to eat and drink before hitting the NYC night scene this is a great choice. There is something about the space and the vibe that keeps the energy level elevated. Not sure how they do it perhaps they pump the air with extra oxygen, whatever it may be I’m certain you will feel like going out after." [SpanishHipster]

The Chicken Liver Mousse News: A fan shows some love via Twitter: "That chicken liver mousse @BRSushiIzakaya is outrageous... Chef Dave -last night's meal was as good as it gets..." [Twitter]

The Kind-of-Bland News: A mixed Yelp review praises some of the plates and is unimpressed by others: "Tons of menu options and most seem to be well done. We loved the wasabi-honey sauce for the much-touted chicken, as well as the salmon tartare with quail egg. The bok choy was a bit of a bland but oily bust. The seaweed salad was simply average...The cucumbers were cool and spicy but doused in a bit too much sour cream. The rock shrimp skewer with roasted tomatillo salsa was an interesting diversion."[Yelp]

The OMG News: An excited Foursquare fan writes: "OMG, this place is heavenly for food and its impeccable service! Ask for the beef bone marrow!" [Foursquare]

The Ambitious News: Immaculate Infatuation breaks the meal down by dish. On the pork ribs: "These were short, stubby ribs that we found to be a little tough and a little chewy. We’d order them again though, just because the black vinegar sauce and scallion glaze could make a pile of rubber bands taste good." Applause for the chicken wings: "Blue Ribbon’s fried chicken is incredible. You already know that. But what’s interesting is that the famous fried bird is now available for the first time as an order of wings. There aren’t may better things in this world than juicy Blue Ribbon fried chicken wings dipped in a little bit of chili sauce and a little bit of wasabi honey sauce. Get some." [Immaculate Infatuation]

The Good Service News: One Yelper had nothing but praises to sing about the service: "...we got lucky because our waitress was the bomb. I think her name was Meeka, a Japanese girl who spoke English like she was from Brooklyn. She obviously knew what she was doing, was very helpful with helping us pick out the food/sake, and she had this great energy and always came with a genuine smile." He continues: "I think if they staff the place with people more like her, the experience will not only be just great food, but excellent customer service." [Yelp]

The Great News: More love from Twitter: "...there yesterday for dinner, simply amazing. Great service, great atmosphere, great food." [Twitter]
