Adam Platt is the second big critic to file on Daniel Humm and Will Guidara's The Nomad (Jay Cheshes dropped a five-star rave last week). Although he loves many of the starters and most of the entrees, he awards it just two stars. Plattypants describes The Nomad as a "posh, coolly impersonal" restaurant, and he's not impressed by the "circus-tent arrangement" of dining rooms. The takeaway:
This is a hotel restaurant...which means Humm’s team is responsible for room service and a whole host of high-volume party events. As a result, there’s a vague assembly-line feel to the proceedings that is compounded by the prices. It's perhaps worth noting that Platt did not take issue with the price of a meal at Atera, a restaurant with a $150 tasting menu that he thought was worthy of four stars.
In the next month, expect reviews of The Nomad from The Cuozz, Sutton, and comfortable chair lover Pete Wells.
