Yesterday evening, popular Tribeca coffee shop RBC NYC announced that it will be closing on Wednesday. The cafe, which opened in January of 2010, seemed to be doing well–– Tribeca Citizen notes that just last week the spot on Worth Street installed new shelves for expanded retail and began baking all their pastries on-site.
A note on RBC's website reads: "Thank you for your loyalty. Unfortunately we are closing Wednesday, 5/2. We are sorry to see RBC go as much as you are." Also worth noting is the fact that RBC's owner, Jodi Richard, happens to be the woman behind NYC's newest critical darling, Atera. Richard hand-picked Matthew Lightner, right out of Portland, Oregon herself. No word yet on what will happen to the RBC space.
