Two months ago, Lauren Shockey announced that she was stepping down from her post as co-critic at the Village Voice. The seat has been vacant for a few weeks, but today the new critic introduces herself to the world. Her name is Tejal Rao, and she's written for Gilt Taste, The Atlantic, Edible, TONY, and Gourmet. (She also draws comics.) Rao will work alongside veteran Voice critic Robert Sietsema and she'll also write for the weekly's blog, Fork in the Road. Her first review is slated to drop two weeks from today.
In her introductory post, Tejal notes: "I'm delighted to join the Village Voice team this week and embark on what every food lover dreams about: her inexorable journey toward portliness and gout."
