A reliable source sends word that German beer titan Paulaner is opening its very first U.S. beer hall in the Bowery space that's currently home to Attias Oven Corporation/Cannon Co. Attias, an old-timer restaurant supply company, will be moving to new digs in Brooklyn sometime soon. The word is that the space will be completely renovated this summer, with an opening timed for the start of Oktoberfest this fall. In addition to beer, the new bar and restaurant will also serve German fare.
Paulaner has 17 similar operations around the world, with outposts in Russia, China, and Germany. Bowery Boogie learns that the Morali Architects group is handling the design, and that Rudolf Tauscher, the GM of the Mandarin Oriental, is working with the beer company on the opening of the new project. The official name of the beer hall is Paulaner Brauhaus and Restaurant.
