75 Top NYC Restaurants Converge for GoogaMooga Fest

New, 48 comments

The biggest food and musical festival this city has ever seen is coming to Prospect Park this May. And it's called The Great GoogaMooga.

Superfly, the people behind Bonnaroo and other major music fests, announces today that the festival will take place in Prospect Park on May 19 and 20 and will feature an impressive line up of food vendors including Hill Country, Frankies Spuntino, Roberta's, The Spotted Pig, Momofuku Milk Bar, Vinegar Hill House, M. Wells (back from the dead), DBGB, Red Rooster, and many many more. In total there will be 75 food vendors in eight different food pavilions (including Allan Benton's "Hamageddon"), 35 brewers, and 20 live performances. Phew. Tickets to the festival are free and can be had at here on the official site starting next Thursday, March 15 at noon.

For those who want VIP access, there will be an extra paid option that will include better sight lines for the shows, access to something called "Marcus Samuelsson's 1920's Harlem Renaissance Party," performances by comedian Aziz Ansari and LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy, and special demos and seminars. See below for the full description of a few of the pavilions and the full food line up. What about the music you ask? Those details have yet to be announced.

The Pavilions:
· THE HAMAGEDDON setting the deliciousness of the pig against a rock and roll inspired design and featuring bacon selections by Allan Benton;

· THE UrBARN with farm-to-fork restaurants and a number of seminars on nutrition, sustainability, and eating locally. Seminars will be hosted in collaboration with non-profits like Just Food;

· THE BEER & WINE EXPERIENCES, showcasing 35 craft brewers and 30 winemakers (both domestic and international) as selected by Garrett Oliver, Paul Grieco, and Peter Eastlake respectively. These experiences will take place under tents with designs inspired by Munich’s Oktoberfest and Napa’s Wine Country;

· THE PIZZA EXPERIENCE bringing to life New York’s world-famous reputation for making the best pies in the country with a gathering of the city’s top pizzerias.
