Vitae, a New Refined Option for Midtown, Opens Today

Today, chef Edwin Bellanco, an alum of Bouley, Gramercy Tavern, and most recently Morell Wine Bar & Cafe, will open his own restaurant Vitae in the bowels of Midtown today. He's serving an American menu of dishes like tuna tartar, seared scallops with cauliflower and curry, Colorado lamb loin, a burger, and some pasta dishes like pappardelle with wild mushrom ragu and ricotta gnudi. Bellanco also offers a four-course tasting menu for $65 and a $30 lunch prix fixe.

The space itself, well it kind of looks like a lovely, upscale, carpeted steel cage, but one featuring two levels, a separate bar, and a 1,000-bottle wine wall. Check it out next time you're near Rock Center or Grand Central with nowhere to eat. Call 212-682-3562 for reservations and see the full menu below.
