Veteran West Village cafe and wine bar Doma shuttered last week, but the owners plan reopen in the next few weeks in a space on Morton Street just a few blocks away. Judging from a post on their website, it sounds like the closure had something to do with the landlord raising the rent: "Remember, as we try to, that the physical world may be controlled by landlords and city agencies, but the world of Truth, where all meaning lives, lies beyond the grasp of all greed, all banalties, all savagery..."
No word yet on what will take its place, but this is perhaps one of the most choice vacant restaurant spaces in the West Village, as it sits right at the intersection of Waverly Place, Perry Street, and 7th Ave.
