NYC's First Fried Pizza-Only Pizzeria Opening Next Week

New, 13 comments

Last year, Italian pizzaiolo Giulio Adriani debuted a special fried then baked pizza at his restaurant Forcella, and the pizza nerds went crazy. Adriani has since expanded to the Bowery, and now next week he'll open another project on the Lower East Side where all the pizzas will be fried.

The menu at La Montanara by Forcella will feature four fried pies including the classic montanara (sauce, mozzarella, basil, and parmesan), and pizzas topped with pepperoni, mushrooms, and just sauce and garlic. For appetizers, the restaurant will offer fried rice balls, potato croquettes, and little fried noodles with ham and béchamel sauce. For dessert, there will be a fried Nutella pizza and pizza strips with Nutella and sugar. And if you don't want a pizza, Montanara will also serve a few pizza sandwiches, presumably made with that delicious fried dough.

La Montanara by Forcella is slated to open on March 28. Check out a sample menu below.
