As if the Sex and the City-era of New York City restaurant and nightclubs wasn't bad enough, it seems we are now firmly ensconced in the Real Housewives-era. A certain collection of women who call themselves socialites and are inspired by the television show go to a non-descript pizza place in Murray Hill to partake in “Girls Night Out at Garlic,” where the women come together and talk loudly about the day's important issues. Some select quotes:
· “Hottie alert!”You get the point. After they eat the free pizza (provided free of charge by the restaurant's owner and a GNOAG member's boyfriend), they of course go hit New York's hottest clubs like 1OAK, Catch, and Provocateur.
· “He drives a Bentley!”
· “Oh my God, when my girlfriends come it’s all Birkins and Chanel. Birkins everywhere!”
· “A Birkin always gets its own chair, and that’s the truth"
Based on previous statements about the club's door policy, it seemed odd that this Garlic Group would be spending much time at Provocateur, so we asked club owner Mike Satsky who said that "the article that they go to Catch and 1 Oak. It also mentions how provocateur was filled with St. Barts, but never says that they were inside or ever have been. Our door policy is more private than ever."
No matter how you slice it, it seems that you are going to want to avoid dining or picking up at Garlic on Tuesday nights for the considerable future.
