Atera's Friends and Family; L'Asso Delivers

TRIBECA— Tribeca Citizen hears that Atera, the new restaurant in the old Compose space from Portland import Matt Lightner, will launch friends and family dinners next week. [TC]

RIPMaximo Tejada, the chef and owner of downtown restaurants Rayuela and Macondo, died after spending six days in a coma following a severe asthma attack. Condolences go out to his friends, family, and co-workers. [Hechos de Hoy via @qualityrye]

EAST VILLAGE—Using a photo of President Obama, Otafuku in the East Village is advertising a new menu item, "Black Boss Coffee." [The Local]

UPPER WEST SIDE— Uptown group favorite Carmine's is starting a series of complimentary drink tastings on Tuesdays. From 5 - 7:30 PM, the bar will hand out free samples of Goose Island Brewery beer and a bar menu of items like fried zucchini ($5), garlic bread parmigiana ($5), and meatball sliders ($6).
