Flo Fab reports that Belinda Chang, the wine pro who won a James Beard Award for her work at The Modern, has left Monkey Bar in Midtown, where she was the the GM and wine director. She's now working as the beverage director of Culinary Concepts Hospitality Group, a company that's affiliated with Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Starwood Hotels.
Shortly after Chang came on board at Monkey Bar last year, owner Graydon Carter announced that he'd hired four other industry stars — Ken Friedman, Julie Reiner, Michael Bailey, and chef Damon Wise — for a complete revamp of the restaurant. And by all accounts, the new Monkey bar is a critical and commercial success. There's still no word yet on who Chang's replacement will be at Monkey Bar.
