Thorn in the restaurant industry's side Maimon Kirschenbaum filed three class action lawsuits in the past two days, including one against Michael Psilakis and his partner at Upper West Side Greek favorite Kefi. The suit alleges that the management failed to pay minimum wage and proper overtime compensation, and that they allowed non-tipped employees to share their tips. The paperwork argues that the number of plaintiffs, which they believe to number more than 50, merits a class action suit.
The other two suits, also having to do with tip sharing and failure to pay proper compensation, were filed against West Village Egyptian restaurant Casa La Femme, and XO Creperie in Sheepshead Bay.
These restaurants join the company of Le Bernardin, Daniel Boulud's empire, Alto, '21' Club, the Batali Empire, Brother Jimmy's, and Artisanal, just a handful of other restaurants that have been hit by a similar suits in the past few years.
