54 Below Plans To Bring the Cabaret Back to Midtown

The good times will be returning to West 54th Street this summer at 54 Below, a new restaurant, supper club and cabaret space that is opening below the building that housed the legendary Studio 54 nightclub. To make sure the project takes off, the 54 Below team has lined up a team of heavy hitters, including Danny Meyer and his Union Square Hospitality Group to consult on the menu, Richard Lewis as architect (he's worked on Minetta Tavern, Marea, Pulino's), and various Broadway producers who will handle the programming. It seems most akin to a City Winery for the Broadway and cabaret sect, and the 160-seat space has already booked several notable performers for its opening few weeks, some of which are already sold out. The singing and dancing fun begins in June.
