Open House Is Now Closed House After DOH Visit

New, 2 comments

The good times have already come to a screeching halt at Open House, a new-ish hidden bar and lounge that recently replaced Stay on the Lower East Side, after a Department of Health inspection found evidence of live cockroaches and various other icky items that led them to shut the place down. The shutdown comes just days after Open House got the NY Times Thursday Styles treatment, where the club's popularity with the neighborhood's weekend visitors prompted one attendee to remark that, “it’s not a very cool crowd, but it would be a safe place to bring my brothers." After being closed for the unsanitary conditions, the club posted a note on the building blaming the weekend closure on "flooding and plumbing issues" that always seem to pop up after a visit by the DOH. No word on when Open House will be able to open.
