Nightlife Notebook: Brady's, Le Baron, Glacier Ice, More

UPPER EAST SIDE— Brady's Bar is temporarily becoming Manning's Bar just in time for the Super Bowl. The bar, which took its name from the longtime bartender and eventual owner Dan Brady, also changed its name in 2008 when the Giants last battled the Patriots for the Super Bowl. If this was in the East Village, we can imagine that the local community would be up in arms about the name change happening without Community Board 3 giving its approval. [DNAInfo]

CHINATOWN— Le Baron is not only the coolest place on the entire planet and Newt Gingrich's new moon city, it is also starting its own vodka sponsored concert series on Monday's to showcase new bands. It started last week with HeartsRevolution and will run through May. You probably still can't get in. [NYP]

CHILE— Everyone knows how important the right ice is in a quality cocktail, but thieves in Chile may have taken things a bit too far. A man was recently arrested for stealing several tons of ice from a Jorge Montt glacier in Patagonia with plans to deliver the goods to the upscale bars of Santiago. The street value of the pure ice was about $6,000, and each cube would probably add another 100% to the cost of a cocktail in New York City. But it's so worth it! [Guardian via Eater National]

NIGHTLIFE GIVES BACK— A group of nightclubs is sponsoring a Super Bowl pool in an effort to raise about $2500 for Pencils of Promise. For $25 a box, winners can win prizes at the sponsoring clubs and nightclub restaurants and really feel like nightlife is finally giving back. The boxes are half gone, so act fast and warm fuzzy. CHELSEA— The relocation of Son Cubano to the former Cain space on W. 27th Street is finally complete. The restaurant recently opened almost a year after the move was announced. With Hotel Americano opened, the new art gallery in the old Bungalow 8 and now this, Is the old club row finally on its way to a new glory? [EaterWire]

#EPICFAIL— Michael James was epically embarrassed after he sent two mega email blasts detailing an event's models only and then models and good looking people only policies, and now the promoter has apparently gone into hiding. Septuagenarian Steve Lewis had apparently set up what was certain to be a hard hitting interview with James, but the promoter bailed on the interview and instead sent back a rambling, Kanye esque rant that makes one question his sanity. Hang in there, buddy. [BlackBook]
