Coffee Fest, Wing Competition, aPORKalypse, and More

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the city:

2011_coffee_and_tea_festival.jpg1) Coffee & Tea Festival NYC
Where: 7 West, 7 West 34th Street
When: Saturday and Sunday
What: A two day festival with seminars, demonstrations, and tastings of coffee and tea from around the world. The event will also host the United States Barista Championship Northeast Competition, where some of the best baristas from all over the east coast will prepare beverages before a panel of judges. Many of the seminars and events are sold out, but there will be some tickets available at the door. Check the official website for the schedule and more info.

2011_best_wings_brooklyn1.jpg2) The Best Wings in Brooklyn Competition
Where: Red Star, 37 Greenpoint Ave
When: Saturday, starting at 2 PM
What: The annual competition at Red Star bar in Greenpoint, with wings prepared by teams from restaurants and bars across Brooklyn, as well as a few amateur cooks. Some of the proceeds will go to benefit the Dr. Theodore A. Atlas Foundation. No cover, but you pay for each order of wings. Last year's even drew over 2,000 wing fans, so if you want to check it out, it's probably a good idea to show up around 2 PM.
