Mission Chinese Food wasn't the only restaurant Community Board 3's SLA Licensing Committee smiled upon last night. They also offered a green light to chef Sara Jenkins and her plan to expand her pasta-centric neighborhood Italian restaurant Porsena by adding a wine bar next door. The space, directly west of the restaurant, was last used as a jewelry store, and Jenkins hopes to add 17 tables seating up to 44 people and two L-shaped bars that will seat about 10. She plans on using her current Porsena kitchen to prepare any food items served in the wine bar.
A couple of her neighbors tried to direct the conversation to discuss Porsena's noisy exhaust fan, and the committee eventually approved the wine bar plan on the condition Jenkins correct the noise problem to the satisfaction of the nearby residents.
