Little Branch Temporarily Shut Down By DOH, Reopens Tonight

New, 8 comments

Surprising news from the West Village, as Little Branch, Sasha Petraske’s popular subterranean cocktail den, was shut down by the Department of Health yesterday. According to the sticker that is currently slapped on the door, the bar is guilty of operating without a permit, but considering that Little Branch received an A during a recent visit by the Health Inspector and the liquor license is up to date, it's not clear exactly what permit the bar is missing.

UPDATE:A rep for the Health Department tells Eater that "Little Branch was closed for operating without a Permit to Operate a Food Service Establishment", but we have yet to hear from the bar as to when they may get this all sorted out.

UPDATE #2: Little Branch owner John Schwartz tells Eater that the bar's payroll company allowed needed insurance policies to lapse, leading DOH to pull their operating permit. Schwartz says that they dropped the updated paperwork off this afternoon and Little Branch is open for business tonight.
