In an effort to raise additional money for the state, Governor Cuomo's office is considering raising taxes on alcohol sales. This move comes as part of an effort to reduce binge drinking, and if passed, will also include measures like new advertising policies, increased DUI check points, and reducing alcohol outlet density by cutting back on permits for bars and liquor retailers. These concepts piggy back on a plan that had been floating around the City's Health Department earlier in the year but never went anywhere. [NYP]
