Michael Kaminer of the Daily News files a take down of the New York branch of Todd English's Olives, describing it as "a joyless brand extension." On the first course: "Starters weren't worth the wait. English made his reputation with bare-chested, vaguely ethnic dishes that perfectly calibrate nostalgia and novelty. Here, they come across formulaic and tired; much of the menu feels committee-driven." [NYDN]
