Adaptation of Joe Bastianich's Memoir Coming to TV

New, 18 comments

A television show based on Joe Bastianich's 2012 memoir Restaurant Man is apparently in the works. The restaurateur and MasterChef judge told the Celebrity Cafe last week that he was working on the pilot for a series based on his book, and now Eater National hears from a source that the pilot has indeed been picked up.

No word on which network has ordered the pilot, but since it's a scripted television series (as opposed to reality TV, thankfully) National guesses either FX or Bravo, the latter of which has made a name for itself with reality shows but is trying to get into the scripted game. The working title for the show is Hungry and will likely feature a fictionalized account of the restaurants Bastianich owns with Mario Batali. Even if it is fictionalized, though, expect more juicy intel about life in the New York restaurant world, like those details he revealed in the book itself.
