Frank Prial, a wine writer whose work appeared in the New York Times for over three decades, has passed away at the age of 82. In his obituary, Eric Asimov writes that Prial "introduced many Americans to the world of wine in the 1970s, when a new passion for fine food and drink was taking hold in the country." Ryan Sutton also notes: "When I was a 24-year-old-wanna-be food writer, I sent out a lot of emails. Frank Prial was one of the only ones who responded to me #RIP." [NYT, Twitter]
