Midtown Institution Stage Deli Now Closed For Good

The famed Stage Deli served its last pastrami sandwich last night. Flo Fab reports that the owners of the 75-year-old restaurant decided to close up shop after falling on hard times, financially. The restaurant had been under scaffolding for months, which hurt business, and the owners were expecting another rent spike in the near future. Proprietor Paul Zolenge tells Flo: "We just couldn't afford to keep it going any more." For more on the history of the restaurant, check out Brooks of Sheffield's Who Goes There? piece from last year.
