Michael White Rumored to Be Taking Over Fiamma Space

New, 12 comments

Before Michael White built his restaurant empire, he worked as the chef at Steve Hanson's Soho restaurant, Fiamma. White left the restaurant in 2006, and it closed in 2009, as soon as the economy tanked. The space has sat vacant ever since (Hanson's BR Guest group used it as an event space), but now Steve Cuozzo learns that the building was recently sold to a new developer, Corigin Real Estate Group. In a sensational twist, Cuozzo also hears that the building was leased to White's Altamarea Group.

Corgin has not confirmed that Altamarea is leasing the space, and White's camp has not commented on the rumor, either. But the chef was apparently seen coming in and out of the building recently. To add one more rumor to the pile, Eater hears that White and business partner Ahmass Fakahany are still working on a new steakhouse concept, and that they were recently looking at space Downtown. Could the Fiamma space be the new home to MW Steak? Only time will tell.
