Status: Now Open
Last night, John DeLucie and Crown Group Hospitality opened Bill's, a steakhouse in the 54th Street space that housed the legendary Bill's Gay Nineties. The owners of that restaurant famously took most of the vintage design details with them when they left earlier this year. But the bones of the space are still there, and DeLucie and his crew have added lots of old-timey elements, plus a few modern touches. The dining room looks like a cross between Gramercy Tavern and DeLucie's The Lion, but with taxidermy and blue wallpaper.
The menu here features dry-aged steaks, pastas, seafood, steakhouse sides, and salads. Jason Hall (Crown, Gotham Bar & Grill) is the executive chef. Expect fancy riffs on things like seafood chowder, spaghetti bolognese, and an East Coast fish fry. The menu also includes a duck for two, and a monster $110 veal shank. Bill's is now open for dinner. Check back tomorrow for a tour of the space, and the full menu.
