Albert Trummer has been out at the Chinatown cocktail bar Apotheke for a long time now, but that's not stopping him from moving the concept down to South Florida. Miami.com reported earlier this month that the fire-loving barman will open an Apotheke outpost in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami this January. In name and concept, this outpost will be similar to the Chinatown original, with Trummer really running with the medicinal concept that he loves so much. Think lab coats, opium essence, and herbs from ancient Italian monasteries.
Trummer was ousted from the original Apotheke after a long-running dispute between Trummer and the Tierney siblings, who continue to run the Chinatown bar (and who also just opened The Butcher's Daughter). This move suggests that Trummer believes he can use the trademarked name and concept, for which he sued this summer. The resolution of that lawsuit is unknown.
