Jean-Marc Houmard and Jon Neidich, who own Indochine and surprise-of-the-year Acme, are now planning a restaurant and lounge in the old Lucky Cheng's space on First Avenue. EV Grieve notices that Houmard and Neidich applied for a liquor license at that address. Hui Chi Lee, another Indochine partner, is also involved in this new concept.
Lucky Cheng's recently moved to Midtown, leaving a humongous restaurant and nightlife space up for grabs. Houmard and Neidich certainly know how to create restaurants with strong lounge/nightlife components, and they know how to fill big spaces, so this could be a good fit. Of course, nothing is set in stone just yet. The CB3/SLA licensing committee meeting is next Monday.
