The Gansevoort Park Hotel has decided to ditch the champagne in favor of flat screens and beer. According to the New York Post, the hotel has bought out the lease of Winston's Champagne Bar, the ultra luxe concept owned by Mike Satsky and Brian Gefter that sought to lure wealthy patrons with high end bubbles that aren't sold at your average nightclub. But all that will end soon, as the hotel struck a deal with the Windsor, a high end sports bar from the West Village, which may be a better fit for the space given the Gansevoort Park's location near Murray Hill.
It is also interesting to note that the Gansevoort's owners have a long history with Satsky and Gefter, which raises the question of whether this move will lead to additional changes across their other deals. For their part, the duo are hoping to relaunch the Winston's concept further uptown.
