Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten has filed a lawsuit against developer Yitzchak Tessler, alleging that Tessler failed to come through on a deal to pay him $400,000 to terminate his lease at 66 Leonard Street (the former Matsugen space).

According to The Real Deal, Yessler found new buyers for the space and told the chef that they would pay him the $400,000. But when Vongerichten contacted the new owners, they told him they had never agreed to the money and were under the impression that he was staying on as a tenant and was opening a new restaurant in the space. Matsugen closed in March of 2011, after almost three years in business.
