To close out a week of many lists and guides, Esquire release its Best New Restaurants 2012 feature. Restaurant writer John Mariani includes Williamsburg critical darling Gwynnett St. on his list, noting that the "eighty-five-dollar tasting menu is a steal." Mariani also awards the "Restaurateur of the Year" designation to Gabe Stulman, and he offers a guide to eating at all of Stulman's West Village restaurants (Joseph Leonard, Perla, Fedora, Jeffrey's) in one night. Joe Ng and Matthew Lightner get nods for being "Chefs to Keep Your Eyes On," and, Mariani declares that the Nomad's roast chicken is the "Dish of the Year," writing that Daniel Humm's entree "is a roast chicken that will make you rethink what roast chicken should be.
Expect more listicles like this for the next few months, followed by a brief list-free period (late January through the third week in February), followed by another heavy listicle season beginning around the Vernal Equinox.
