Long-Shuttered Park Luncheonette to Reopen Soon

Park Luncheontte on the corner of Driggs Avenue and Lorimer Street in Greenpoint has sat shuttered for several years now. The space was a soda fountain for decades, then it briefly turned into an American bistro in 2005 before closing in 2009. Now, a real estate rep sends word that the restaurant will reopen under the same name later this year, with a new set of operators.

Ted Mannwho owns Greenwood Park, Matchless, and a handful of other Brooklyn bars — is one of the restaurateurs behind the revamp, along with partners Larry Hyland and Erik Green. No word yet on what kind of food the new Park Luncheontte will serve, or what the dining room will look like, but hopefully the new owners will keep that awesome signage on the front of the building.

Fun Fact 1: The restaurant makes a cameo in the opening scenes of The Departed (see the video here).
Fun Fact 2: Restaurateur Ted Mann is Ted Nugent's long lost son.
