The East Village could be getting not one but two burlesque clubs in the coming months. Over the summer, the Tribeca restaurant and burleque joint Duane Park announced plans to move to the Bowery Poetry Club. Now comes word that nightlife person Lorenzo Cortelli (né Timothy Simpson) is looking to open his own burlesque club and restaurant.
According to a DNAinfo report, Cortelli is shopping the idea of a Moulin Rouge-y burlesque club with a menu of burgers and fries. He's keeping mum about the club's specifics, choosing not to reveal the name or possible locations, though he's apparently eying several spaces near St. Marks Place, including one near the corner of First Avenue and Sixth Street.
Cortelli recently posted a Craigslist ad (since deleted) looking for investors. He tells DNAinfo that he hopes to open by the end of this year.
