SOHO ? Italian newcomer Principessa is offering a selection of pastas for $10 from 10 p.m. until the restaurant closes at midnight, from Tuesday to Thursday this week and Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. This is in celebration of National Pasta Month, because of course October is National Pasta Month. [EaterWire]
SAN FRANCISCO ? In the second episode of his "Fresh Off the Boat" Vice webseries, Baohaus owner Eddie Huang hits San Francisco's Mission District to do some guerrilla cooking with Rice Paper Scissors and weighs in on the lack of Asian-raised food critics: "You have to eat your way through a cuisine and a culture before you can say something about it." BOOK CLUB ? It's not enough that Mario Batali has a sprawling empire of restaurants and a growing cash cow franchise in Eataly, but apparently he also has two talented sons. The empire-builder's pre-teen sons Benno and Leo have inked a deal with Harper Collins to publish The Batali Brothers Cookbook, which they wrote as a 50th birthday gift for their dad two years ago. It'll come out as an e-book for Christmas and a physical one in the spring. [Grub Street]
AWARDS SEASON ? Nominations are now open for the 2013 James Beard Awards. Books and media awards have one portal for nominations, while restaurants and chefs have their own, separate one. [Eater National, Official Site]
