Michael Psilakis's popular Upper West Side Greek restaurant Kefi is the latest to feel the strong arm of the Department of Health. The West Side Rag learns that the restaurant was shut down yesterday after it failed an inspection. A sign on the door, sent to the West Side Rag by a tipster, confirms this.
The results of the inspection are not on the DOH website yet. Kefi did, however, receive an A rating after its last inspection, back in April. Eater hears that the restaurant is getting a second chance this morning to pass its inspection and open back up.
Kefi was also slapped with a lawsuit earlier this year, one in a long line of high profile restaurants to feel the wrath of Maimon Kirschenbaum.
Update: A representative from Kefi sends this statement: "Following a failed health inspection, incidents reported on Monday night are currently being resolved. Kefi continues to work towards upholding its level of excellence and will reopen for service tomorrow."
